Catskill, NY, c. 1988. She wasn’t yet 20 years old, but Anita has been “partying” quite a bit. Now her doctor had told her that she was showing symptoms of kidney damage. Suddenly, Anita got religion!
She hadn’t been to church for a long time, but she came that Sunday night to ask for prayer. Shortly after she received the prayer of faith, the service ended, and the congregation headed for home.
But it wasn’t going to be that simple for Anita that night. She wrecked her car within a mile of the church. She was rushed to the hospital. Among the battery of tests, they took some x-rays to help assess her condition.
Oddly, though, they asked for a second set of x-rays, the doctor even offering to pay for them himself.
Coincidentally, the doctor on call was the same one who had delivered Anita at her birth, nearly two decades before. He was well aware that Anita had been born with only one kidney, so he was totally amazed to now find two healthy kidneys on her x-rays!
